Power

Figured we are going to need some battery packs, so I've ordered a few sizes:

9v clips
6 x AA
5 x AA
4 x AA
3 x AAA
2 x AAA

mostly like this from ebay:

All the arduinos seem to need 5v to run, but need 7-12v input voltage

might need to start adding up how much power we need vs weight of batteries

  1. Arduino input voltage limits are 6-20V, so might be interesting to see if it will work with 5 AA cells, or even 5 AAA. I wonder what everyone else uses.

    1. Dave Akerman (http://www.daveakerman.com) uses Lithium AA batteries like these (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321072343581). On his blog looks like he uses 3 or 5 depending on what he's powering.

  2. I'd have thought 6V will be fine. The main issue will be current draw if we start powering too many sensors...
